HOW TO GET TO PRAGUE AND VENUE
How to Get to ESSLLI 2026
ESSLLI 2026 takes place in the heart of Europe. While the event is organized by Charles University, all academic activities will be held at the Czech Technical University (CTU) Dejvice Campus. This campus is one of the most accessible areas in Prague, located just minutes from the city center and the airport.
Traveling to Prague
By Plane
Prague is served by Václav Havel Airport (PRG). It is a major international hub located about 25–30 minutes from the ESSLLI venue. The most efficient way to reach the city is the Trolleybus 59, which runs every few minutes from both terminals to the Nádraží Veleslavín metro station (Line A).

Airport Express (AE): A special bus line connects the airport directly to the Main Railway Station (Hlavní nádraží) in 45 minutes.
By Train
Most international trains arrive at Prague Main Railway Station (Praha hlavní nádraží). The station is located directly on Metro Line C (Red). To reach the venue, take Line C to Muzeum, then transfer to Line A (Green) towards Nemocnice Motol.
By Car
Prague is well-connected via motorways to Germany (A6/D5), Austria (A7/D3), and Poland (D1).
Note: Parking in the Dejvice area is strictly regulated ("Blue Zones" are for residents only). We highly recommend using P+R (Park & Ride) parking lots located at the outskirts of the city near metro stations.
- P+R Nádraží Veleslavín is the closest - attendees arriving from the west
- P+R Depo Hostivař or P+R Skalka - located at the opposite end of Metro Line A. 25 minutes by direct metro. Attendees arriving from the east (e.g., via the D1 motorway from Brno/Austria)
Price: The guarded P+R lots in Prague cost 50 CZK for the first 24 hours (some centrally located ones are 100 CZK).
Operating Hours: P+R lots usually open at 4:00 AM and close with the last metro (around 1:00 AM). Overnight parking is allowed but incurs an additional fee (usually 100 CZK).
Payment: You can pay at the automated machines in the parking lot or via the PID Lítačka app (Google Play , AppStore).
Getting to the Venue (CTU Campus)
The conference is held at the CTU Dejvice Campus, Prague 6 (address: Thákurova 7/2077, 166 29 Praha 6 – Dejvice).
Public Transport (The Best Option)
Metro: Take Line A (Green) to the Dejvická station. Use the exit marked "Šolínova / Vysoké školy". The CTU building is less than 10-minute walk from the exit.

Trams: Lines 8, 18, 20, and 26 stop at Dejvická or Lotyšská.
Tickets: You can buy tickets via the PID Lítačka app (Google Play , AppStore), or using a contactless credit/debit card directly on any tram or at the orange validators in metro stations.
Note that you can also install the official PID Lítačka app while still abroad, purchase a monthly pass (30‑day public transport pass for Prague Zone P), and it will be valid immediately for your first journey in Prague. This way, you can start using public transport as soon as you arrive without waiting.
A 30-minute ticket costs 40 CZK; a 90-minute ticket costs 50 CZK. It’s the #1 thing attendees will appreciate, as it handles tickets and route planning in English.
Note: When you buy a ticket in the app, it does not become valid immediately. There is a 2-minute activation delay after purchase to prevent people from buying tickets only when they see an inspector.
Airport Express (AE)
Airport Express (AE) bus offers a direct connection between Prague Airport and Prague Main Railway Station for a fixed fare:
- price: 200 CZK one‑way (special tariff — regular PID tickets or Lítačka passes do not apply on this line!)
- Tickets can be bought from the driver or at information centres at the airport and main station .
Taxi & Ride-Sharing
Taxi & Ride-Sharing Taxis in Prague are safe if you use reputable apps. We recommend:
Uber or Bolt: Both operate extensively in Prague. A ride from the airport to Dejvice typically costs 400–600 CZK ($17–$26 USD), depending on demand.
Official Airport Taxi: Located directly in front of the terminals. Expect to pay a fixed or metered rate of approximately 700–900 CZK to the city center.
Warning: Avoid hailing unmarked taxis on the street; always use an app or a registered taxi stand to ensure transparent pricing.
