 37th European Summer School in Logic, Language and Information – ESSLLI 2026

Summer School and Participants’ Profile

The European Summer School in Logic, Language and Information (ESSLLI) is an annual summer school organised since 1989 under the auspices of the Association of Logic, Language and Information (FoLLI). ESSLLI provides interdisciplinary background with courses and workshops in the areas of informatics, linguistics and logic. The courses (basic and advanced) and workshops cover a wide range of topics with three interdisciplinary areas of interest: language and computation, logic and language, and logic and computation. 

In addition to the courses and workshops, the programme also includes four evening invited lectures by prominent scientists, which focus on acute research topics in the three areas in a wider scientific, historical and philosophical context. Evening lectures are usually open to the general public. Since 1996, students at ESSLLI have also been provided with their own meeting place and sharing their results in the ESSLLI’s Student Session organised by students for students with their own annual awards. Last but not least, ESSLLI includes the presentation of the E.W. Beth Dissertation Prize, organized by FoLLI.

Each year ESSLLI is attended by about 400 interested students and more than 50 teachers from Europe, North and South America or Asia. Participation of students from economically developing countries is usually allowed from the summer school budget. The school is unique in its interdisciplinary focus, there is no event of similar type and importance for these fields in Europe.
